SMILE! (:

Really glad my parents loved the dinner I cook for them yesterday and today! (:
I'm been wanting to cook Aglio Olio for a long long time...but I just couldn't get it right.
My spaghetti tastes like spaghetti (duhh~)...as in there's like this flour smell. Just couldn't get rid of it.
And it's like a bit dry and bland in short.
But this time round, I succeeded! My spaghetti is just nice, not so hard or soft, and it's really sweet, cos I added prawns in it.
So I came up with this conclusion/formula/solution?
To cook Aglio Olio, ALWAYS add salt into the water before you cook your spaghetti in it.
Next, DON'T wait till your EXTRA VIRGIN olive oil (EVOO) to heat up before you add your garlic. Add your garlic and evoo together...so that the smell of the garlic is infused into the oil.
Lastly, use EVOO instead of OO.
And I always have this problem. For baking I will always use recipes and make sure I've got the measurements right. But for cooking, I just won't follow recipes. Maybe I will...but I'll add what I think is enough. As in I won't follow the recipe's measurements. But thank God my Aglio Olio finally turned out well! (:

Fish Cake wanton
Tomato Soup

Haha, my mum was like telling me how much she loves the prawns. I followed the western way of cooking the prawns actually...adding just salt and pepper. The prawny smell was gone, and I could actually taste the sweetness and freshness of the prawns. (but a lil' tooooooo sweet for me!)
For the fish cake wanton, I sort of copied and modified it from the auntie selling chinese noodles in my sceondary school.
I always love to eat fried wanton. Especially those super simple wanton. Like just wanton with prawn paste. I love to eat simple food. Plain porridge. Plain noodle. Plain Chee Cheong Fun. Plain kuehs without all the fillings. Haha, You can say I'm weird. =P
So back to the wanton. When I first came upon this $0.50 fried fish cake wanton, I couldn't help but think of it all day long. No matter where I am, this $0.50 fried wanton is filling my whole mind. So I decided that one day, instead of buying the $0.50 fried fish cake wanton which is not really worth it because it's wanton skin and a PIECE of fish cake. So I went to Fairprice and bought one pack of wanton skin and fish cake.
To make it worth a bite, I diced the fish cake and added a whole lot of it into the wanton skin and fried it. Haha. Shiok ttm man! (:
So next up, tomato soup. Another story. Haha. When I first came upon this soup, I said "Mine-strone" soup. Haha. But I was wrong. Later then I know it's called "Mi-ne-stro-ne" soup.
Yeaps, because I like minestrone soup, I decided to make tomato soup instead of minestrone soup. My tomato soup is way much simpler then minestrone soup.
I just added 5 tomatoes and one big onion to a lil' bit of water. Don't know how much. Oops! I don't measure, like I have told ya. Though it tastes a bit bland at first, but as I cooked it longer, it taste just nice, but a lil' bit sourish. (duhh, it's tomato, what do you expect.) =x
Okays, so that's abt it!
A bit long-winded today! =x
Byes~
